Welding seams and materials non destructive testing (NDT testing)

The tests are performed by a welding engineer (IWE / EWE) and NDT engineer certified according to the standard EN ISO 9712, level 2 for visual method (VT), penetration method (PT) and magnetic method (MT).

Ultrasound method (UT) and radiographic method (RT) are performed in cooperation with external associates.

The testing process that is conducted includes:

  • preparation of working instructions for testing
  • conducting tests in the production plant or in the field
  • preparation of an examination report

VISUAL METHOD (VT)

Testing of welds and materials by visual method is a surface method of control and includes direct and indirect control technique.
The direct control technique is control by the sight of the operator and the indirect technique is control by equipment that facilitates access to inaccessible places (inside pipes, tanks ...) and is divided into borescopes and videoscopes.
We are equipped with a video videoscope that can control the inside of pipes, tanks and other hidden places that are inaccessible to the human eye.

PENETRANT METHOD (PT)

The penetrant method is performed with colored and fluorescent liquid penetrants and surface defects such as cracks and porosities are examined using this method.
Since the method is more sensitive than the visual method, we can use it to detect other surface defects in welds (joints, gluing ...)
The penetrating method can also be used to control impermeability in various structures where impermeability is required.
In our work we use:

  • red and white technique
  • fluorescent technique (fluorescent penetrant + UV lamp LABINO).

MAGNETIC METHOD (MT)

The magnetic method of inspection of welds and materials is carried out when we want to be sure that there are no indications of defects on the surface of welds or materials that we can not notice by visual inspection.
There are different techniques of magnetization of the tested piece and the most widespread technique in production and in the field is the technique of magnetization with an electromagnetic yoke.
In the magnetic test we use the electromagnetic yoke of the renowned company MAGNAFLUX-TIEDE.
Error indications are detected using:

  • liquid fluorescent magnetic particles and UV lamps LABINO
  • liquid colored magnetic particles
  • dry magnetic particles

Ultrasonic method (UT)

The ultrasonic method of welding and material control is based on the principle of the sensitivity of the ultrasonic pulse to the composition and structure of the substance through which it passes.
The ultrasonic signal is reflected, bent, refracted or attenuated at discontinuities in the substance (inhomogeneities in the substance).
This property allows us to detect various indications using ultrasound devices and probes.
We have the possibility of ultrasound examination on:

  • steel sheets
  • steel welded joints
  • machined parts
  • forged parts
  • cast parts
